The Complete App Launch Checklist for Small Business Owners
Want to build your own app?
Start Building FreeLaunching an app is exciting. It's also easy to rush. A few hours of preparation before launch prevents the kind of problems that create bad first impressions — and first impressions with an app are permanent. A user who downloads your app, finds it broken, and deletes it rarely gives you a second chance.
This checklist covers everything that needs to be right before you announce your app to the world.

- ☐ Product photos uploaded for every item (no placeholders or missing images)
- ☐ Business information complete: address, hours, phone, website, social media links
- ☐ Staff profiles added if applicable (salons, clinics, gyms)
- ☐ All category names and navigation labels correct

- ☐ Incentive tracked so you can measure conversion rate from downloads to first transactions
Post-Launch Monitoring Checklist
The work doesn't end at launch. Plan to check these things daily for the first two weeks:
- ☐ New downloads and active user count in analytics dashboard
- ☐ App Store and Google Play reviews — respond to everything
- ☐ Any crash reports or error reports
- ☐ Order and booking completions — are they flowing correctly?
- ☐ Staff feedback on any operational issues
- ☐ Push notification open rates from any campaigns sent
Plan to send a follow-up announcement post on social media one week after launch with download numbers, positive reviews, or customer testimonials. Momentum from the first week builds on itself — the more downloads and positive reviews you get early, the higher your app ranks in store search, which brings more organic downloads.
Common Launch Mistakes to Avoid
Launching without a launch incentive: "Download our new app" is weak. "Download our app this week and get 15% off your first order" is a reason to act now.
Not training staff first: When customers ask about the app and staff don't know what it does or how to help them download it, the launch momentum dies immediately.
Waiting for perfection: Version 1.0 doesn't need every feature. Launch with your core features working perfectly. Add more features over time based on user feedback.
No plan for driving downloads: Publishing the app is not a marketing strategy. Every item on the marketing checklist above needs active execution.
